Since April 1, 2001, the "Electrical Product Control Law (DENTORL)" has been officially renamed the "Electrical Product Safety Law (DENAN)". This regulation is different from the control of the agreement provisions of the previous regulatory system. In the new system, unofficial institutions will ensure product safety. The regulations require Japanese purchasers to register and declare with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) within one month after purchasing the goods. All electrical and electronic products in the DENAN catalog sold in the Japanese market must pass PSE certification. DENAN of Japan divides electrical and electronic products into two categories: specified products, including 115 products; non-specified products, including 338 products. Specific electrical products must be inspected by a third-party certification body authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan for product and factory testing equipment, and PSE certification is issued. The certification is valid for 3 to 7 years, and the PSE diamond mark is affixed to the product. Non-specific electrical products need to prove the conformity of the product by means of self-inspection and declaration, and a PSE round mark is affixed to the product. Therefore, it is necessary to purchase an original copy of the certificate while obtaining the certificate to apply.
